Kikyo and Kagome, the ever controversial subject. It is rare for a fan to like them both, instead,
the fan usually likes Kikyo and despises Kagome or likes Kagome and is a full-time Kikyo basher. However, is it really necessary? True,
they are two different people with different pasts, family, likes and dislikes and emotions. But, in reality, they are the
same person and have more similarities than one may think.
For example, they are both strong willed. Neither one
of them would ever let anyone push them around, they both stand up for what they know is right and neither one will back down.
They both believe in helping people.
No, don't give me that crap that Kikyo is coldhearted and selfish. Even now,
as she is without a soul and filled with hatred, she still helps people. An example would be the various townspeople in places
that she travels, she still exterminates youkai and that bandit (who was a companion of the former Naraku).
Kagome has that same "helping" spirit. She doesn't hesitate to help people in need,
prime examples are Miroku, Sango and Shippo. She rarely ever thinks about herself but always of other people.After watching episodes 147 and 148 it is almost remarkable the similarities between
Kikyo and Kagome. In fact, it is obvious that Kikyo longs for all the same things that Kagome has. Friends, purity, peace
- a chance to just be herself. In fact, I truly believe that if Kikyo wasn't a miko, then she would have been just like Kagome
except 500 years older. Kagome is everything that Kikyo wanted to be, perhaps that is why Kikyo is so mean to Kagome, she
is upset that her reincarnation got what she didn't.
But is that really true? Technically speaking, Kikyo IS Kagome. Therefore, Kikyo really did get the
happy ending that she wanted. Remember, before Kikyo was brought back, Kagome had all of Kikyo's memories - and Kikyo resisted
leaving Kagome's body.
Kikyo and Kagome are one and the same. Sad thing is
though, the "new" Kikyo was stuck with all sad emotions and negative feelings that she had right before she died. Kagome was
stuck with all the good.
So you say you hate Kagome? Or perhaps you despise Kikyo. Think before you judge, because, really, if their soul wasn't forced to be separated, both sides would still be inside Kagome.
